I am posting Block 11 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge today. I must admit that this post is a week late, but I had a minor surgery last week, so gave myself some grace to recover and all is well! This block is such a beautiful block, so it was well worth the wait!
This week's block is designed by Heather Peterson of @ankastreasures
What is the RBD Block Challenge?
It is a weekly free mystery block pattern hosted by Riley Blake Designs. There are (16) new and unique 10" quilt blocks designed by 16 Riley Blake Design designers (including myself)! It is fun and free and the final quilt is a surprise!!!
Every Tuesday, a NEW block pattern is released, except the last Tuesday of the month when we take a moment to catch up, get inspired and really enjoy all the awesome work happening on the Block Challenge around the globe!

Block 11: Pop Star Block by Heather Peterson of @ankatreasures
Block 10 of the #RBDBlockChallenge is designed by Heather Peterson and is called the Pop Star Block.
You can download the FREE block pattern HERE.
I made mine pulling from a combination of a two RBD fabric lines called Hibiscus by Simple Simon and Company and Misty Morning by Minki Kim as well as some coordinating RBD Basics (see my fabric list at the bottom of this post).
I just LOVE this fussy cut little llama!!!
I am continuing with the stitching details and did some outline hand stitching in my background fabrics. It gives the block so much texture and personality.
I hand sew these embellishment stitches BEFORE I assembled the blocks into the final quilt and before I quilt it. I just love the hand look it gives the blocks!
Quilting together is all about community, friendship and creativity. I hope you having a great April and I am loving seeing your progress under the hashtag #RBDblockchallenge.
