Whether you are looking for a last minute gift idea, something fun to do with the children or grandchildren, or just needing a fun prop for your Christmas Elves to hold on Christmas eve... this FREE tutorial is simple, fun and quick. Will you come and do some Christmas Baking with me?
You will need:
1) Scraps of Felt
2) Scissors
3) Embroidery Floss
4) Hand sewing needle
5) Optional hand sewing beads
Let's get started...
Step 1:
Download the FREE Christmas Cookie template. If you are making doll size, do not *scale to fit*. The template should print out at a half page. If you want to make child size felt cookies, choose the option *fit to page* when you print.

Step 2:
Cut out the paper template cookie shapes. You can cut one cookie out fully. On the second cookie you can cut just the icing out (for the sugar cookie and star cookie) and a chocolate chip out for the chocolate chip cookies.
Step 3 - Chocolate Chip Cookie:
For each Chocolate Chip cookie you make, you will need to cut out 2 light brown cookie circles
Start by marking the chocolate chips locations to the top single layer of cookie. Use a dark brown embroidery thread and 3 strands of floss, make a thick, double French Knot in each chocolate chip location. Don't worry about the threads running from chip to chip on the BACK side of the cookie. We will cover these threads up. Repeat this process stitching a double French Knot on each chocolate chip location.
Next, take the 2nd light brown cookie circle and layer it on the back of the stitched cookie, covering up those messy threads. Using a coordinating thread color to the cookie base, blanket stitch around the perimeter edge joining both light brown cookies together.
