Our mission is to help families bring stories to life through meaningful, story-filled sewing experiences. We create quilts, dolls, patterns, projects, and kits that invite families to make together, imagine together, and connect through purposeful play.
Our work includes dolls and doll-making experiences, quilts, Storybook Block of the Month™ programs, sewing patterns, projects, and kits; all designed to give parents, grandparents, and children inviting ways to sew, tell stories, imagine, play while building lasting memories together.
Sew A Story is looking for a warm, highly organized and dependable person to join our team as our Studio Manager.
This is a hands-on, on-site position for someone who loves keeping things organized, thinking ahead and making sure all the little pieces come together.
You do not need previous studio-management experience or a degree. We are happy to train the right person. What matters most to us is finding someone who is responsible, capable, organized, kind, comfortable taking initiative and naturally good at keeping track of many things at once.
Maybe you’ve developed those skills through your career. Maybe you’ve helped run a family business, volunteered in your community, managed a busy household and family, or you’re ready to bring years of life experience into a new season of work. We value both work experience and life experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As Studio Manager, you’ll help keep the physical side of Sew A Story running smoothly. This includes:
• Coordinating our small studio production team and daily priorities
• Keeping cutting, kitting, fulfillment and shipping organized and moving
• Looking ahead so fabric, supplies and projects are ready when they’re needed
• Keeping track of inventory and identifying what needs to be reordered
• Preparing and organizing projects for our sewists, filming and upcoming releases
• Helping solve everyday studio problems and keeping everyone on track
• Creating and maintaining simple systems that help the studio stay organized and efficient
You won’t be expected to know everything when you begin. We’ll train you in our products, systems and workflows, and your responsibility and independence will grow as you become comfortable in the role.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education is welcome but not required. Relevant work experience, volunteer experience and life experience are all valued.
SCHEDULE & LOCATION
Location: Sew A Story Studio, Manitou, Manitoba
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Starting wage based on experience. CAD/hour, based on experience
This is an on-site position, and availability for these regular studio days and hours is required.
The position will begin part-time, with opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the role and Sew A Story continue to grow.
